Design, build. and operate 30-kJ ArF beamline

  • Advance power plant design
  • Demonstrate Arf laser electrical efficiency and energy required for power plant

4 years

Develop power plant design and all needed technologies

  • Arf laser target experiments with two 30-kJ beamlines to refine physics
  • Develop all needed systems and power plant technologies
  • Design pilot power plant

Phase 3

5 years

Build and operate ArF laser fusion pilot power plant

  • 650 kJ ArF laser system @ 10 pulses per second using 22 ArF 30-kJ beamlines
  • Generate electrical power (about 425 MW)
  • Breed more tritium fuel than consumed
  • Advance components and procedures
  • Provide basis for mass deployment of fusion energy
